Become a member of the prestigious Mid Ocean Club and gain a home away from home amid the rolling greens of the club’s world-famous golf course. The Grand Slam has now moved on to the newly rebuilt Port Royal at the other end of the island, but Mid Ocean remains for me the top dog on the Bermuda golfing ladder. Requires a membership in the Mid Ocean Club to activate. Set above one of the most stunning beaches on the island it has lots to offer. The template bunkers are not too challenging except when the pin is on the right side of the green, 4th hole – Mangrove – short par 4, but plays steeply uphill which makes it a tough walk and even tougher to pick a club for your uphill approach shot. 14th – Leven – par 4 dogleg right with a sprawling bunker complex unlike previous straight-edge bunkers. I have played a lot of courses that are 100 years old or so, and you can clearly see that some holes are there filling in space as the land is compromised, at Mid Ocean there were a few moments of this, hence my 5 ball instead of 5.5. Another example of a fabulous short par 4 that plays so much longer. Has hosted the Grand Slam of Golf a few times, this is a course that simply makes you go 'wow' time and time again as you stand on various tees on your way round and a course that makes you marvel at the sheer beauty that will stay with you for the rest of your life. The most memorable hole on the course is the 5th, the “Cape” hole, which plays from a high tee over water to a demanding green.
